FURIA vs. North: DreamHack Winter betting analysis
The last month of 2020 kicks off with some great Counter-Strike at DreamHack Masters Winter, where FURIA will meet North in the opening match.
DreamHack Masters Winter will include 16 teams, including participants from the Americas region. The tournament has a good mix of the best teams in the world and upcoming teams who are looking to prove themselves against the best. DreamHack Winter has a prize pool of $150,000, giving the teams a lot to fight for.
FURIA and North have been placed together in group B, along with teams such as Astralis, G2 Esports, and Team Liquid. The group seems tough, so it’s crucial for both teams to start out with a win and avoid the lower bracket for as long as possible.
FURIA enters the tournament after a great showing at the BLAST Premier Fall 2020 Showdown. The Brazilian squad managed to take one of the two spots for the BLAST Fall Finals, taking down Liquid, Virtus.pro, and Isurus along the way. Purely on their own, not depending on RNG, which could later in the tournament work against them.
North has been struggling in recent months, which has resulted in some roster changes. The Danish squad will be fielding Swedish Rasmus “kreaz” Johansson, who is currently on trial, as well as young talent Kristoffer “kristou” Aamdn, who has previously been scouted from AGF Esport.
This iteration of North has a lot of young talent and is led by experienced players including Jonas “Lekr0” Olofsson and René “cajunb” Borg, but they haven’t impressed thus far. Going up against FURIA will be a real test to see if North can stand its ground against one of the best teams in the world. If North wants to go deep in this tournament, this match against FURIA needs to be won.
There will also be a lot of pressure on FURIA, as they have shown great form lately. Losing to North would be unacceptable and the worst possible start to the tournament. Going in as a heavy favorite will be hard since North is ready to strike with an upset.
FURIA is heavily favored against the Danes from North
Going up against a hot FURIA roster will be hard for North. The Danes will have to take down a top 10 team in the world over a best-of-three, which seems unlikely according to bookmakers.
A win for FURIA gives a small odds of 1.32, while a North victory is all the way up at odds 3.10. The odds clearly speak towards the two teams’ current form and how North has been struggling against the best teams in the world in 2020.
